So it seems that Avast! counts as 2 of these. Windows checks to make sure you have a firewall, virus protection, backup, and spyware and unwanted software protection. So windows tells me (in their -Control Panel-system and security-action center) that I am running two "spyware and unwanted software protection" programs and that this could cause my system to run slow. I still needed an antivirus though, so having heard lots of good things about Avast! I downloaded and started using that. It came loaded with Windows 7 "starter" I am using the built in firewall, and windows defender (i have heard these are both pretty good with windows 7) Here are the best free antivirus alternatives to Windows Defender.
Need it for school, MS Office suite programs, so the little Mhz and RAM aren't a problem. Many people swear by Windows Defender, but others want different protection without having to pay an arm and a leg. I just bought a "Eee PC" from Asus (one of those little 10.1" screen "netbooks") I am new on here, been looking at post for the past few days for info found it very helpful.Ĭouldn't quite find an answer to this one though hope i didn't miss an obvious answer.
